Day 2: It was a little scary this morning, as a new van driver - TopicsExpress

Day 2: It was a little scary this morning, as a new van driver got stuck in the yard picking me up in front of the house with the wet snow and mud. Then, he didnt want to return to Sioux City through Concord, so he took 866th Road with county maintenance. I didnt think it was a good idea, but Im trying not to be a problem, or complain since I do appreciate the ride. Well, that was memory making! For a driver, the two women in the van had to educate him what the little blinking yellow light on his dashboard meant. It means you have NO TRACTION, SLOW DOWN!! He grew impatient following the maintainer on 866th Road, so he passed him. Upon pulling back into his lane of traffic, he fell off of the highway, and we were quickly zooming in the ditch. He was proud of himself when he said, I handled that pretty well. If I would have jerked it back on the road, we would have rolled, but I got a hold of it before that. Had I mentioned that Id been terribly ill the night before? Before we had even gone a full mile, he was zigzagging all over the road again, as he thought getting up a hill was requiring more speed. I just pulled out my book and focused on reading and silently praying. We did arrive in one piece, which I was extremely pleased. I had checked in, got my beeper, and went to sit. My behind had just hit the chair and my beeper went off. This radiation treatment went better today. I was able to start my own vegetable beef soup before going to lay down today. My dad monitored it while I rested, and then I finished it for supper tonight. I was able to get some soup down, so far without any issues. This morning I was so fearful of eating anything at all, but Im glad the soup was successful. By the time we came home, much of the snow was already melting/melted, so the driver was able to drive a little better. He kept blaming the out of control action on the van needing new tires. Another driver, that he had spoke to while we were getting our treatments stated that it isnt the need for new tires, its something else, as its always done that since it was purchased. I had an opinion as to what else it could be related to, but I added no verbal comments :-) . I volunteered to meet the van in Laurel on Wednesday, so the driver doesnt get stuck in the mud or the driveway/yard. It should all be fine, I dont mind. Wishing you all the best. Merry Christmas!!
