Day 2 Three things Im thankful for: 1.)My newly discovered passion with painting. Someone asked me if I felt, as someone who just started painting, that maybe abstract art was easier than painting still life, etc. I think thats a tough question to answer. I work on a visual level and think on a visual level. When I write I see the scene or I see the emotion from a song. Making an abstract piece, for me, is an extension of that. I get a chance to put weird images in my mind on canvas or wood panel. Its about seeing if it even turns out the way I planned because often times it doesnt. The collage I recently posted that I love, resulted from an abstract watercolor that I hated. Several other paintings Ive done are a result of something not working. So in a way its easier because its my vision and Im a visual person, but the execution can still be cumbersome and it still needs to capture not only my eye, but that of anyone elses. I plan on tackling more still life soon however. I love Hopper and the images he captured and making a story for myself behind the painting. Its why I love film (and why I hate brainless slapstick comedies). I love a good film that can interpret visually as well as internally the story that needs to be shared. 2.) Ok number 1 had a lot so Ill keep this one short. My babies. My children. Wynston and Hudsyn are my pride and joy. Theyre not boring and completely obedient. Theyve spark and are a little restless and definitely make themselves known in a sea of people with fur babies. I love their fierce personalities. 3.) Music. Duh. It keeps me going at work and at home. Im listening to music more than anything else when Im relaxing at home.
