Day 2 in Peru!: We had the pleasure of visiting and guest speaking - TopicsExpress

Day 2 in Peru!: We had the pleasure of visiting and guest speaking at the Rotary Club of Lima Sunrise. They are a warm, welcoming and highly proactive club. This club, consisting of llama-riding, English speaking locals and ex-pats, kindly reminded us of the all-too-real risks involved in moto-trekking across their fine country. (i.e. Dont take candy from strangers). Conditions apply, but if we all return, they would like to have us attend a follow-up meeting three weeks from now, post-Mototaxi Junket glory. We then returned to Condors House to pack our dirties and share stories with fellow Condorian travellers. After to a few yarns, it was time to say adios, and head to Lima Airport. Our curious cabbie, and his aggressive driving and summary of Julians solo martial status (translated to non-complicated) was very entertaining. An 1.5 hour flight to Piura found us windowless and glued to the terribly lame Just Kidding kids candid camera in flight entertainment show. Once we landed in Piura, it was a vast contrast to the moist and misty low-lying cloudiness and hustle of the capital, to the arid, flat dust-bowl that is Piura, This was our first introduction to the humble Mototaxi. Around Piura there are many of them buzzing around piloted by young Peruvian hotheads, mostly young males with customized accessories to pimp their ride. It was quickly after leaving Piura that it properly dawned on us; we were smack bang in the middle of the desert. Our cab ride was 60km to the starting point of the Mototaxi Junket and full of quiet reflection and inside jokes, The contrast of Lima to now was starting to settle in, until we entered Colan. Thats when paradise showed herself to us. Two seconds ago we were in the arid, lifeless desert. Now we find ourselves in tranquil, remote, beach side bliss. We are but a handful of the very few people staying in this resort and we couldnt be more pleased with how things have turned out for us. We know this is a joy and ease of mind that we should enjoy for now and savour. But just look at what we have all to ourselves! Tomorrow, we meet our mototaxi for the first time. I hope she likes us. Buenos noches xo
