Day 2 of the grateful challenge (prepare for the shameless plugs-LOL) 1) I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this community in many different capacities and the GREAT organizations that work to provide an environment of positivity, growth, leadership and unity. 2) I am specifically honored to be a part of and grateful that these organizations exists to help better the Kalamazoo community: Charlies PLACE, Black Arts, Ecumenical Senior Center, The Judge Charles A. Pratt Bar Association and Fair Housing Center of Southwest Michigan. I am grateful that each of these organizations help build the lives of other people in various ways, from advocating for ones rights to providing positive safe outlets for youth! 3) Lastly I am grateful to be surrounded by great people of my generation who are examples of leadership, integrity, unity and grace. Some of these people in the Kalamazoo community include: Carmen James (Networking out), yolonda Yogi lavender (BACC), Kevin Lavender Jr. (Truth tone), TaKarra LaRen (Charlies PLACE/KPS), Jamar Johnson (Charlies PLACE), Artrella Cohn (CIS), Tiffany Parker (Above & Beyond Design), Teleshia Parker (Stephany Renee), MeLisa Zackery (Kalamazoo Fashion Week), Stanley M. Steppes (Money Smart Kids), Demarra Gardner (Freedom Schools) and Nicole Parker (Chalies PLACE-My mini me-lol). I could probably go on but these people came to mind because of projects they are currently working on or organizations they are a part of that is making an impact NOW on our community (GOOGLE THEM, CHECK THEM OUT, SUPPORT WHAT THEY ARE DOING) . So many times I hear about how my generation isnt stepping up to the plate, or how people fear what the world will look like when my generation become the leaders. NEWSFLASH: we are leading NOW! I am so proud to be among the ranks of this coming greatness; moreover, I am REALLY glad that each of these that I have named are not about selfish ambition but about giving, doing and supporting one another. I am grateful to exist in this world and among these who are MORE about collaboration and LESS about competition! Until tomorrow, #nobadnews #begrateful
