Day 2 update after wind damage, park remains closed and all events cancelled this weekend and next week. I can confirm main damage is sth woodend beach to waikuku, although some hangers at The PInes end. Power and water back on this morning about 10am at Woodend Beach. Camp clean up well under way. While the downed trees are a problem, it is the numerous hanging branches that are our main concern. We will have heavy machinery in next week to move the big trees off trails, roads etc. Next few days we will be identifying the main trail hangers and have a cherry picker in next week to resolve. Please understand the park is closed so we can remedy these issues and be very sure that people will be safe when we re-open. We had a mountain bike rider fall from her bike this morning and badly break her arm/wrist. This rider uses the trail almost daily so shows how dangerous it currently is. I understand it was debris on the track that contributed to the fall. Thanks to rex and dan for your help and cookie and corrections teams also.
