Day 226 of 365 Days of Gratitude...oops just double checked my day converter and it seems I lost a day somewhere along the way. Today August 14th is Day 226. And its a date Ill remember all my life. In 1988 I was driving back to Boston from DC and NYC when I heard a very clear voice tell me to put on my seatbelt. I argued quite a bit but then did as I was told. I told the voice I should tell Donna to put hers on too then--she was driving. The voice said, No it has to have been her decision. I remember hearing Every Little Step You Take by Bobby Brown and then I mustve fallen asleep, and she mustve dozed off too. Next thing I remember the car had flipped a couple of times and I was upside down in my seat belt. I was wearing a t-shirt that said Will Somebody Rescue Me. She flew through the window and unable to recover from all the internal bleeding within a few hours became my angel who reminds me to Keep Shining! I think I cried every day for at least 3 years even though her spirit continued to show up. I cant believe it was 26 years ago! One of my favorite stories is when I went back to Boston to promote I Love You More for my publisher in 2008. I had 3 book signings---one on the South Shore in Hingham in the AM, then Harvard Sq around lunch time and then the North Shore in the evening. I wasnt sure just where the Curious George bookstore was in Harvard Sq but I knew if I could find it in time I might be able to also find and grab lunch at Pizzeria Uno---Donna and I went to the one in Harvard Sq the 1st day we met. Cambridge can be a bit confusing so I was thrilled when I drove in that just ahead of me I saw the sign for the bookstore--AND I scored a parking spot just as soon as I saw the sign. I pulled right in figuring Id have plenty of time to find Unos....turns out I was parked right in front of it!! Went in and had lunch and there was a young asian girl eating by herself beside me--Donna was Korean. Perfect! Went to my book signing that evening and was thinking the only thing missing was hearing our song I Had the Time of My Life. Left Barnes and Noble about 10pm, got in the car, turned on the radio and, yep, there it was! I was blessed by Donnas friendship while she was here and continue to be blessed by her angel presence...Keep Shining Sister!!
