Day 23 Woke up to a bunch of doughnuts from fresh grounds! The perfect way to start our day before heading up to the smokies. It was a chilly morning and snowed for a little bit too. We took our time heading into the park and spent some time on Fontana dam! It was a pretty long day, cold and all uphill, but we got to see the smokies all covered in snow which is pretty awesome. At the top of the first mountain theres an old fire tower a little bit off the trial. We walked up there and decided to climb up it which kaity regretted instantly because of the high winds and sketchy structure. The view up top was amazing though we could see for miles! After that the terrain to the shelter wasnt too bad, when we got there Stoney was inside making a fire which was good because it ended up getting really cold that night. At about 7pm 3 spring breakers busted in. Two girls and a guy, one girls clothes and boots were all wet from the snow the night before and the other girl was completely wasted because she had been drinking vodka all day instead of water. They sat by our fire for a little and traded city slicka the rest of their vodka for his treated water and then they decided to hike 10 miles in the freezing dark to get to their car. We assume they made it... Later even more spring breakers showed up and were loud and obnoxious as we tried to sleep it was extremely irritating but we were able to pass out anyway.
