Day 24 of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Here is Sammys story: Sammy was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma on July 3rd 2012. After 6 rounds of chemo, surgery to remove the main tumor and left kidney, a bone marrow transplant, radiation therapy and finally antibody therapy with accutane. We took him to urgent care after he was up all night with a fever and crying that his belly hurt. The doctor at urgent care said that he thought Sammy May have an intestinal blockage and to take him to childrens hospital immediately. The ER doctor felt around his abdomen and said I can tell you now its not an intestinal blockage. They did an ultra sound to see if they could find a large poop ball but unfortunately it was a large tumor. After very aggressive treatment he was declared NED on November 11th 2013.
