Day 26: Protective Edge/Gaza War Breaking: Israel Defense Minister Yaalon, together with the IDF chief rabbi, announced the death of Officer Hadar Goldin. after announcing it to his family just a short while ago. This is based on the findings and investigation of the area where the incident occurred. Yehi Zichro Baruch יהיה זכרו ברוך Hamas kept shooting missiles toward Israel, south to north. IDF announced that they discovered another tunnel, and that in one of the tunnels was a stash of motorbikes, possibly to be used in case of abduction of Israeli soldiers, IDF also announced that the destruction process of all known death tunnels will be completed within the next few days. Heavy bombardments of Rafih, including several mosques, and the Islamic University, where it is claimed to have a Hamas headquarter, as well as a missile construction facility. The main hospital there was evicted and many more fled to shelters and inside Gaza. Number of misplaced Gaza residents only in UNWRA shelters is now close to 300000 and other 200000 at least taking shelter in Gaza city. Humanitarian crisis is at peak point, as for the past 5 days, electricity and water supply were scarce to non exist, and much needed medical and food aid was limited yesterday. both Egypt and Israel are supplying some electricity to Gaza. Over 3000 blood portions were delivered from the West Bankl to help treat the growing number of wounded. it is a drop (of blood) at a sea of needed. UNWRA spokesperson keeps urging the international community to step in and help in the worst humanitarian crisis he has ever witnessed. As the search continues for the missing soldier, several personal items of his were discovered in the tunnel he was dragged into. That tunnel also led to a known Hamas base.Hamas claimed it lost touch with the alleged terrorist cell that operated on its own and that it is highly likely that he is not alive. Israeli tanks are taking position along the Philadelphi corridor (Egypt border), to prevent any attempt to smuggle the missing soldier. Heavy artillery and intense live fire clashes continued in several areas, but IDF informed several Gaza residents in other neighborhoods, that it is now safe to return to their houses. Many mortar bombs were launched toward Israeli ground around the Gaza strip, where locals refuse to return to their homes until they are promised to be protected, A Finnish reported said on air that she sees Hamas using Shifaa hospital as a missile launcher center. 4 missiles were fired from the Sinai dessert (Egypt territory) by possibly local Hamas cell, toward Israel, and fell in open fields. Anti Israel and Pro Hamas demonstrations brought ten of thousands to the streets in Jordan and Maroccos capital, Rabat. Diplomatic front: Israel announced it will not participate in any talks regarding ceasefire with Hamas, and cancelled their arrival to Cairo which was planned for tomorrow. The Israeli cabinet agreed on a unilateral and partial withdrawal from extensive parts of the Gaza strip, after finishing detonating all the tunnels they found. however, as some IDF patrols are moving out, others will stay in defensive positions. Israel announced it will not allow concrete or iron into Gaza unless the enclaves demilitarized. Pm Netaniahu is his address to the nation thanked the USA for their support and alliance, and stated that Israel will not accept continuation of rockets fire from Gaza. He warned that if this continues, Hamas will pay a heavy price. Palestinian delegation left today for Cairo, minus Hamas and Islamic Jihad representatives from Gaza, since they were not promised International protection. US envoy will arrive tonight as well. More pressure was put on Israel to agree and send out its delegation, but Israel refused. Hamas claims it is Israel who breached the last ceasefire agreement by allowing its soldiers to continue their work on the death tunnels. As they claim to know nothing of the whereabouts of the missing soldier, they blame Israel for failure to try and find a regional truce. It seems that Israel made a tactical decision not to allow Hamas to dictate its moves, army wise or political. Calm will be answered with calm, said Netaniahu. What will the next few bring? we shall see... Good Night.
