Day +289 update: Well, we seemed to have dodged a bullet so far. After returning from great Duke visit, Emily awoke yesterday to a sore throat and a slightly elevated temp. So the call to her nurse/doctor here at CHKD was made and she was in clinic soon. Blood cultures were done, test for flu and strep were done along with getting IV fluids and a dose of IV antibiotics. Luckily the flu test came back negative but unfortunately strep came back positive. She was given Tylenol for her throat pain but also helped with her fever. After her IV were finished and a little wait for her BP to come back up a little, she was prescribed oral antibiotics and was allowed to come home, which she quickly assumed her position on the couch bundled up. So far so good as she is zonked out in her bed. If her fever persist longer than 24 hours, then its back to clinic. Glad she was able to come home and not be admitted. We are really praying for a healthy at home Christmas this year. Go Team Emily & ROAR!! ~ Terry (Dad)
