Day #3 - Nicks Tunes An obvious one here...but Damien Rice is right up there with the best! This song is stunning! But of rme this version is the best, it was taken from an AOL live session well before his first album was released. The single version was a little over produced for me, and lacked the emotion of this. I read that when he was recording the vox for the album version, he was struggling to get the emotion right, as it was about an ex from whom he had a painful split...so he invited her around for coffee, then recorded the vox in front of her. This song also has a deep personal connection for us, not due to the lyrics, but the fact that a few years back we had some close friends round and we sat singing this until the small hours with me playing guitar.....a few days later one of them was tragically and suddenly taken from us!!
