Day 3- we began the day visiting thd old city of Tzfat, one of the Jewish Holy Cities in Israel, known also the city of Kabala, Jewish mysticism. There we visited the Sephardi Abuhav synagogue, also nicknamed the blue shul, because the color blue is so prominent. We also visited the Ari Ashkenazi synagogue, named to honor Rabbi Isaac Luriah. We then visited the amzing candle factory and strolled the varioys galleries. We then proceeded to have our first falafel and hummus lunch together with the local Israeli population in Rosh Pina. We then strolled along the largest of the 3 tributaries of the Jordan River, the Dan creek, as well as visit the ancient ruins of the biblical city of Dan dating back to the 10 century BCE. We then drove up to the Golan to Mount Bental, wherd we had a grest view if Kunetra and Syria. We walked through an Israeli bunker. We learned about the complex issues with our nrighbors and the strategic significance of the Golan. In the evening we had a lovely fish dinner on another one of the tributaries of the Jordan, the Snir River. We ended the day with a night safari jeep ride where we saw gazelles, foxes and a family of wild boar. We stopped for tea, cookies and a lovely sweet pomegranate, on the old Syrian patrol road overlooking the Hula Valley with the lights of the towns snd villages shimmering below. What a day, full of action and education.
