Day 3: Gratitude 1. The moon: For some reason( as yet unclear to me), this celestial object seems to be linked with my temperament. The emotional intensity( read havoc) it immerses me in is something short of volcanic. It seems as though even my feelings have feelings when the moon is full. Along with this comes a gust of energy and a heightened awareness of the self and its surrounds that renders me high sprung. I love the clarity it brings my spirit. The Wolverine state it leaves me in:)) 2. Mangos; paw-paws; peaches; melons and grapes...thank you, Nature! 3. Fashion: How beautifully liberating is it to wake up and decide which version of the self to present to the world each morning! Thanks to my wardrobe and my love for styling, all 99 of my personalities get a chance to come out and play! 4. The music I was raised on... Me, Im a Blues baby and dont care to hide it! Given a choice, Id happily revisit the 50s:)) 5. Insomnia: I may not show appreciation for this relationship, but this friend seems adamant on displaying loyalty. I appreciate the ruminations; the time spent in self-consultation and the resultant writing. 6. My mother: No amount of words can do justice to what she is. Aside from the supreme genetics, shes responsible for every little likeable trait I posess. 7. Poets; writers; actors; musicians: I am recharged by getting glimpses of the divine streak which propels these of my ilk to keep baring their souls on stage. Such feats of empathy; servitude and mediumship deserve to be thanked...and I do...Thank all of you, artist friends. Mordern griots and contemporary shamans. Hotep. 8. Beadwork: Since I started beading about 7 years ago, the personal rewards have been multifold. The only thing I can consciously attribute this skill to is having discovered at one stage that I owned about 14 unpaired earrings! Out of necessity, I started crafting and havent looked back since. Now, beading has become a sacred form of prayer. I love how this outlet allows itself to recede until such time that the impulse arises and I find myself crafting the night away as though Id never stopped. The tranquility it brings my soul...I love the deep connection with the mothers it affords me
