Day # 30 – Wisdom Chapter 30 of Proverbs brings us a new contributor to the book, Agur, the son of Jakeh. He writes in a very unique style and has many thought provoking statements. “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a Liar.” (v. 5-6) When I read these verses I thought of all the warnings in scripture about adding to or taking from what God has spoken. If God makes a statement and puts a period at the end of it, it is done! Believe the Word of God. I understand the problems with “translations” and the “cultural diversity” that has become the argument that the agnostic would used to weaken the Bible and cast doubt on the believer. But, Agur states “He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him”. If God wants to be our God (and He does) and if we want to be his children (and we should) then we need something to guide us other than the weak human emotions that dictate what we desire and dream for. There must be something bigger than I that can direct my life! I chose to believe that something is actually someone, and his name is Jesus!
