Day 32…. Last weekend we clocked up a few kilometres and drove through five countries…first drive was 15 hours en-route to Hatvan in Hungary from Berlin. LB27 Reggae Camp the next day was a festival for the Hungarian Reggae massive next to a pool complex. We had the pleasure of seeing Johnny O and Lone Ranger and caught up with the Medial Banana crew from Slovakia and bumped into Art from wellington! Random as Art…Big ups to Nice Up crew in NZ! Promoters and techs were all cool as! Great festy and cool people…next drive was to Colosseum in Kosice the underground haven for subculture. We stopped for a bit not really knowing the direction we were going to check the Google maps and FB some updates…it was a good 34 degrees so needed the stop. Snapped a few pics of the miles of sunflower fields of joy and pulled up next to fruit stall that had the cheapest and tastiest peaches we’d ever sunk our teeth into. Arrived in Kosice in the afternoon and found our way through he back alley to the venue. We played here a few years back and again great hospo and good to see Tina and the Sound tech ‘Roach” some people were there from the last show 4 years ago! Jan the promoter was a totally cool guy! The show was great and mean as response…hot as hell though. In the morning we walked around the square a bit checked out the gothic church and roman type bell tower and then stumbled upon a nice little Italian coffee house tucked away in a back alley off the square. We navigated through some dodgy scaffolding went inside and chilled there for a few hours before heading the Christiania Club in Presov. We caught up with Moshi and met the promoters at this 500-year-old bar. A real eye opener this place. Multi levelled cellar type bar playing blues music and Jazz...and old books everywhere. So glad we get to play at these unknown locations so far from home. Different vibe than the last Presov show but a very appreciative crowd. Had the awesome accom and well looked after. The next morning we decided to head through Poland it seemed faster to drive back to Berlin….10 hours! Headed through the hills, past lakes through small villages over borders and passed through tolls till we finally hit Germany then floored it all the way back to Berlin just before the sun set. Note to self: If travelling the A1 in Poland make sure to have Zloty the local currency and be prepared for 4-5 toll stops also have Huf the local currency in Hungary plus Koruna for Czech. You have to have vignettes or toll stickers or else you’ll get pinged big-time! This weekend is Laupheim, Germany then on to Prague, Poland and Vienna! …. Auf Wiedersehen peoples!
