Day 36 of #100daysofmusic - Cover versions I was watching - TopicsExpress

Day 36 of #100daysofmusic - Cover versions I was watching Sunrise this morning and there was some discussion about a young girl on X Factor singing Celine Dions All By Myself. I spluttered out some coffee and said Eric Carmens All By Myself thank you very much! The song was by Eric Carmen from the album Eric Carmen and written by Eric Carmen. Having said that he did base it on Rachmaninoffs Piano Concerto No. 2 so in itself it was sort of a cover version. Please dont confuse him with Eric Cartman who performed a great cover version of Donna Summers She Works Hard For The Money :) One of my favourite covers is The Zoots version of The Beatles Eleanor Rigby. The Zoot featured Daryl Cotton on lead vocals, Rick Brewer on drums, Beeb Birtles, later of Little River Band, on bass and Rick Springfield, before he ventured to the US for fortune and fame, on guitar. Another interesting one is the Foo Fighters version of Gerry Raffertys Baker Street. The original is awesome and I love the saxophone in it but Dave managed to replace the sax with guitar and it is still great.
