Day 4 Complete! 75 miles! Today we travelled through London - TopicsExpress

Day 4 Complete! 75 miles! Today we travelled through London which we thought promised great sights, a shorter ride and a pleasant tailwind for half the journey. We thought wrong. From Harlow we tried to get to Lee Valley which weve been told is a nice area and has national cycle routes which shouldve take us into Central London. It didnt. Turns out the national cycle routes arent meant for road bikes more motocross bikes. Not mentioning the closed roads, headwind and early morning blues we overcame to get there. However, we turned on the sat nav and were soon on the A10 which took us straight to central for our arrival at Westminster Abbey! Until we were then bombarded with a Bangladeshi monsoon. This made our last 5 miles to the abbey very wet and cold, so we stopped, shivering, outside the abbey awkwardly asking someone to take a photo and set off sharply to meet Shaun and the van near Blackheath to blast our hands on the heaters and change our socks. From there on we had about 25 miles to go following the A2 to Rochester with a 25mph tailwind, which should have also been great. It was not. Within 5 minutes we took a wrong turn and from there on out it was a plethora of hills and wrong turns until wed managed to meander our way to reach 75 miles on of a 60 mile ride. But were here now! Tomorrow is our last day when we arrive at Battle Abbey our final destination on our journey south! After 40 miles or so, we will arrive at the abbey between 12:30 and 1:00pm so if you have nothing better to do come see a couple of tired sweaty teenagers cycle through the gates of Battle Abbey itll be great ! Neither of us can believe how far we have actually come from York down to here and it is crazy how much support weve had so thank you to everyone whos helped us on the way! We are still taking sponsorship for this until we finish tomorrow so if you still would like to support us visit justgiving/michael-hiett Well see you at the finish line!
