Day 4: I am convinced that every doctor believes that his field - TopicsExpress

Day 4: I am convinced that every doctor believes that his field of specialty is the most important, ie; the cardiologist believes the heart is of great importance, the pulmonoligist thinks the lungs are the only organs of any use, and the hepatologist is sure that the liver is all there is to life. I am thankful that there is any amazing team here that pieces all these things together to try and figure what to do with our son. The surgeon met with us and told us all the details of the actual transplant operation. That was a lot of info. The pulmonoligist believe that he has never had asthma that it has been problem of the PLE and plastic bronchitis all along. The liver doctor wants to do an MRI and biopsy of his liver because it is abnormal. The listing will depend on whether they think he may need a liver transplant as well. Other than that today has been uneventful. He is tolerating the Milrinone well. This is an IV med he will be on until he transplants and he will have to wear a defibrillator vest as well. He has been feeling good. They have a positive outcome for him to receive a heart (and maybe a liver). They say the wait can be weeks, months, or even over a year. But all the news this week has been about moving forward and we are very excited!
