Day +4 In the transplant world, Julian continues to do very well. - TopicsExpress

Day +4 In the transplant world, Julian continues to do very well. He continues to avoid fevers, though we have had a number of temps in the 99s. He is still managing most of his oral meds, despite pretty severe nausea, and he is able to get out of bed and play a little. I think we finally have a plan to control the nausea. The meds for that are fairly sedating, which means that Julian sleeps a lot, but in some ways, that is not such a bad thing. I discovered a couple of mouth sores tonight, so it is likely that Julian will also be starting on some pain meds before long. I was really hoping to avoid mouth sores altogether, but they are a very common side effect of the chemo, so they are pretty much expected. Julian is not quite himself right now, but the good news is that his organs are functioning well, and he has not had any sign of infection. Even the test for C-Diff came back negative, which is a blessing, though he has still struggled with some diarrhea, likely from mucositis. Please continue to pray that Julian remains infection free and that he is able to remain as comfortable as possible throughout the next week or two while we await engraftment. Please also continue to pray for 100% engraftment! One day at a time! The Andrews
