Day +4: The number of reddish-colored areas on Nathaniels skin - TopicsExpress

Day +4: The number of reddish-colored areas on Nathaniels skin have increased. They resemble sunburns in appearance and often even feel warm to the touch, much like sunburns tend to. Feeling concerned about this, weve asked Nathaniels doctors to examine these areas. Theyve narrowed the cause down to two likely possibilities. The first one being that the rash-like symptoms may be a response to a specific drug itself. The other possibility, they say, could be something called radiation recall. Nathaniel had gone through eight days of radiation treating the skin covering his entire body over a period of less than two weeks during the past month. A specific medication he has been taking can cause the body to remember the areas of the body affected by the radiation. Please pray that Nathaniels body fully recovers soon from the skin issues he has been having. Also, please pray that none of these affected areas become infected nor allow infection to penetrate these patches of skin. Even with what Nathaniel is going through, we have a lot to be thankful for and feel optimistic about. Nathaniel does not seem to be expressing signs that he is feeling pain related to the skin issues. Hes just as jolly as he usually is. Also, Nathaniels radiation treatment went only as deep as his skin. If this radiation recall were to go any deeper than the skin, it could have the potential to create some serious internal problems. For Nathaniel, this is very unlikely. Nathaniels doctors have been saying that, so far, he appears to be responding very well to his treatment. Thank God for that! Please pray that Nathaniel gets through this week without difficult complications. As I mentioned in a recent post, Nathaniel could start feeling some of the unpleasant after-effects of chemotherapy soon. Please pray that these effects are neither harsh nor difficult for him. Thanks to all of you for your prayers for finding a solution for Cecilias care. Thank you also for the offers to help out. Weve decided to have her accompany her Aunt Gracie who will be returning to her home in El Paso tomorrow after having assisted us with both Cecilia and Nathaniel for the past couple weeks. Were sad to think about spending any length of time without Cecilia being with us, but this should allow Cecilia to have greater stability and continuity of care while allowing us to provide Nathaniel with just about all the attention and help he may need. Please pray for safe travels for Cecilia and Gracie and for Cecilias time with her El Paso relatives to be both fun and peaceful enough that she doesnt get homesick or too terribly lonesome for her parents or Nathaniel. Again, thank you for continuing to pray and believe!
