Day 4 Today our itinerary took us to Cilaos, a village of approximately 6,000 residents. The village is quite a distance of where we were staying, felt like the other side of the island. Here, I must tell you I gained a lot of respect for our driver as the roads into the hills are extremely narrow and winding. We made some stops for photos as the views are phenomenal. Cilaos is a pleasant town to explore, with plenty of places to stay, including both hotels and B&Bs, managed by friendly locals. There is even a winery where you can taste a variety of French wines and this is exactly what we did over lunch which we enjoyed in 1 of the many local rustic bars. Strolling the narrow lined streets after lunch we enjoyed the little shops and very popular is the fine embroidery created by the local Cilaos women. Gardens in this little village I also found interesting, as the locals even grow plants on their roofs. Day 5 My Reunion island trip has come to an end. Checking-in at the airport, I once again experienced the hospitality of the people on Reunion island and is a trip that will be remembered for a long time.
