Day 4 of being Thankful. 1. Thankful for my extended/blended family. My step parents. Linda McCroskey & Adrin Hargett. I thank them for their patient love for me in my adolescence & youth. I know you will find this hard to believe but I wasnt always the nicest child to deal with. Had a lot of anger & resentment issues after the divorce which I at times took out on them & sometimes my step siblings. I fortunately grew out of that. For my 2 beautiful step sisters Debra Hammond & Lee Ann, for their husbands & for their beautiful children and lastly, I know this is a long thankful all in one. I am thankful for the maturity & life experiences that make me understand love and the realization that both my parents are happy now. And their spouses truly love them & care for them!! A son couldnt ask for more!! 2. There were many teachers as I have stated growing up that greatly influenced me. But I have to speak directly of two in High School that will always have a special place in my heart. The lovely, beautiful, talented, feisty, red headed drama queen Dee Post! Unfortunately we recently lost her to breast cancer. She taught English & Drama. Her English classes were a dramatic performance unto themselves. Her absolute passion of the English word! Literature & poetry suddenly took on new life & meaning for me. We also worked in theater productions together at SAAC. She was incredible as Maggie The Cat in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof!! I played Lacey the butler!! LOL!! She became not only a favorite teacher & mentor but a dear friend and knew & accepted me for who I was long before I figured it out. And James O Foxx my Choral teacher. Who brought the same love & passion to music. He pushed me & gave me opportunities to become a better musician. To reach deep into my soul & find the passion of my music from within. Taught me a lot about accompanying and how I had to become one with the choir. The ability to listen to the choir and anticipate if something was going off track & the necessity of following them & and adapting to the problem go with them make it sound as if nothing happened. This has been so useful in solo voice accompanying & the theater. He was my mentor, my encourager, at times my disciplinarian but ALWAYS my friend!! And he taught me to always listen to the director. If he said the grass is blue then the grass was blue 3. I am thankful this little novelette has come to an end. Hope it wasnt too boring!! Good night my FB peeps. Whether near or far away. I love you and you make my life brighter !!
