Day 4 of the music of my developing years: The Poet - TopicsExpress

Day 4 of the music of my developing years: The Poet Minstrels. Does anyone remember Rock Arena? Man what a great show. Anyway, I used to sit in front of the TV with a cassette player and record the concerts This was before VCRs, and it was a black and white TV. And I had to walk through snow to change the channel. Uphill. Both ways. I recorded some great concerts this way - eg. Yes, Barclay James Harvest, The Kinks, Pyramid. So anyway, in the very early 80s there was this concert by a guy named Tom Waits. And thus I discovered the poet minstrel. Of course the entire concert is on YouTube now. Bah. But anyway here is the song that made me fall in love with Tom Waits. It isnt my absolute favourite Waits song (that would be either Kentucky Avenue, Blue Valentine, Rubys Arms, Tom Trauberts Blues, I hope That I dont Fall in Love with you or ...) But for a young dreamer, to hear this gravelly voiced minstrel spin a tale of fantasy, despair and abject loneliness was an utter revelation. https://youtube/watch?v=STXF9PZkjSQ
