Day 4 update. Blisters, final hurrah, emotional people and pepper - TopicsExpress

Day 4 update. Blisters, final hurrah, emotional people and pepper snorting and Wolf pack leading. Today we set of for the final leg of the walk !!! Treddol to llanfihangel was the challenge . The day started of with a straight forward walk through Treddol for simple reason that the road was pretty much straight. It finally donned on us that upon exiting this famous welsh hamlet we realised the climbs would be painfull we could only imagine the pain was similar to that of standing on a bed of hot coles in the middle of the sahara dessert with no route of escape from the burning sensation I experienced on the soles of my feet, children it was very painfull and caused great discomfort. After the climb from Treddol we approached a town called Talybont on which we had our first break of the day. Cambrian news where in town and we had many photos taken by a dwarf man on a step ladder. He insisted on us taking as many pictures as possible on our knees surely so that he could only see us in excrutiating pain for his own pleasures. After all that was done and dusted we made off behind the then wolf pack leader Trystan Leyshon like he was the pied piper in one of those ridiculously false fairytales my mother hen used to read to me as a kid. That was a pretty easy walk and had a break In Rhydypennau. Now this is where it gets interesting as I now proclaimed myself as the new found wolf pack leader, yes people big Dan was in the front for the first time of the day. So proud of myself and possibly due to my lack of memory I took a cheeky little selfie to remind myself and everybody else that I was indeed there, On half a mile mark from Bowstreet not far from the Comins junction I lost my self elected position as wolf pack leader yet again ;( I could probably put that down to the fact that I had impared vision due to the congregation of rain droplets that were on my glasses from the moderate to heavey downpour sweeping in from the west. After this we made it to the Waun and finding myself a comfortable seat that was fashioned out of stock fencing only for it to be wrecked by Arwyn Evans and Rhydian Evans by pushing me over it which in turn pulled the staples out of the posts the wire was attached to while simultaniously flipping me arse over tit !!!! Further collections where made in Aberystwyth via the prominade and the Great Darkgeat Street. Once collections where finished we moved on for a spot of lunch and it was a coin toss between Weatherspoons or Starling Cloud. Heads for Starling Cloud (Y Cwmwl as Huw Bonner would put it) and tales for Weatherspoons. We tossed the coin and it landed on tales but decided to go to Starling Cloud none the less. Lovely meal and onto CKS where we were welcomed by friends and family of Dylan Rattray and was quite literally overwhelming and really touching. Just goes to show what everyone thought of him (A star man) Further pictures by the Cambrian news and the dwarf man this time without the step ladder but yet again insisting that we kneel. We left CKS with our new fresh walkers in tow. It was so inspirational that I decided to stop in Nanteos and get on the bus and take a view of what the crowd looked like from behind, no people no excuses here and no joke sitting on the bus is damn hard work. Passing by new cross pub and the turning for Llanfihangel we knew we were on the home stretch. Half an hour had passed and it was left for me and Janet Evans to make the final walk into town by christ it was hard. We finished the day in the pub with some grub and a few beers with the auction in full flight and Aled Owen taking to snorting pepper to entertain guests things where quickly going to spin out of control but they didnt and I am glad to say things stayed respectable for the majority of the night. Hearing Dylans Dad talk and giving an open hearted account of his thoughts on the event with me having no shame in admitting that I had a slight lump in my throat, it was very touching and really emphasized the kind of Son, Nephew, Grandson, Cousin and Friend he was. We all really still miss him but we know that he was muched loved and will forever be with us. Summary was lots of money has been raised and I am sure you will be notified regarding the amount that has been raised. Emotional day and yet very rewarding. Top Job for everybody that helped organise it from Y Ffarmers to Rob Rattray the butchers and all the friends. The biggest thanks goes to Lloyds coaches as it really would not have been possible without your kindness and generosity. Thank you all and good day !!!!!
