Day 401 Lakota and Leonitis - Leo and Whiskey having some fun. Today was super hot again so we let Leo play with Whiskey instead of his mother today and he seemed to enjoy it. Most of you have seen the video of Leo loping around the yard at half speed while poor Whiskey was running as fast as she could to keep up. They had a lot of fun and Lakota enjoyed just hanging out lounging on her bed in the air conditioning. Today we were able to get transport for three breeder release terriers to bring them here to PAWS. Apparently in southeast Missouri there was a husband and wife breeder who had Australian Terriers and Schnauzers. They were breeding and selling both types of dogs which is quite common, most puppy mill type breeders have several different breeds they sell. After the wife died the husband just threw all the dogs together in a pen and then started selling the puppies as Australian Schnauzers. The good news is the breeder has been shut down and now there are quite a few Australian Terriers going out to rescue and we agreed to take three. We have Angus the male and the two twin sisters Chloe and Kiley Angus is about 4 years old and the twins are just 2 years. These are hypoallergenic non-shedding type dogs. All three are quite social for breeder dogs and once they are vetted should be great little family companions. We always say we never know from day to day what type of dog will come our way. At the beginning of this week we had no dogs scheduled to come into the program and now two days later we have taken in 4 new dogs. It is never boring around here. More tomorrow!
