Day #47 I am definitely not a morning person, so usually it takes me an hour or two to actually wake up however this morning I was feeling particularly awake and wide eyed, maybe the same could be said for the rest of the group as we were out building pretty sharp. It could well have been because of the morning wake up music being the Beach Boys (we have a different one each morning) or just that the weather was feeling a little less windy and a bit warmer today! I am in the group that is doing the smaller components of the building, the first of which are the 4 doors, we came close to finishing them today; finishing the two main ‘external’ doors which should have the glue dried for tomorrow, finishing the frames for the two doors that lead into the building and also cutting all the cladding for these doors. I was surprised at how much progress the guys in the other groups progressed today too, going from simply having the floor and wall structures completed to having the structure for the walls, roofs and floors competed on both buildings, the roof sheathing attached and starting on the wind barrier boards attached on parts of the walls. In the evening Sami, Håvard, Andy and I went hunting for seabird on the boat. So Andy and Sami both have shotguns and they walked over the cliffs while me and Håvard manned the boat and picked up anything that was shot from the water, we got a few so maybe will see them on the menu in a few days time… I was originally a little disappointed to learn we would be coming to a small, flat island for this workshop however this place seems to bring really incredible views, colours and light every evening with some of the best sunsets I have ever seen. I still brought my bike as I wanted to ride it up here inside the Arctic circle and also thought it might be cool if we have a free day at the end of the week to ride around Bodo so have been ‘riding it to work’ every day along the little track and everyone had been exploring the island plenty on 9t, great fun, before we leave I WILL wheelie the whole wooden boardwalk on the way to work.
