Day 5: I know people will laugh when I say I am thankful for my “kitchen table”…for I am notorious for complaining about all the cooking I do for the grumpy ole dairy farmer…For those of you that have never been to my house, I do not have a dining room, just an old timey kitchen with this huge table…There has been many hours spent of my life at that table…This old piece of wood is the “center of our universe” on Whitaker Farm…there have been a lot of heated card games ( Spades) on that table…there have been weddings planned on this table…there have been babies dried off coming out of the sink on this table…there has been plans drawn up to build a barn at that table…there have been many hours spent putting vegetables up (uggggggg)on this table…perfect table for making 20 pans of biscuits for the dove shoot…this is where most of the decisions about our life have been made together (good and bad) at this table…this is where our children’s friends have sat and still sit to this day and discuss life…When family is there, they sit there while I cook and we laugh/cry/talk…Ben and Wes always expect Cason’s sausages and biscuits for breakfast. I am usually already cooking lunch by the time they get out of bed…Bridget is always asking for that certain recipe ( because I measure nothing)… I can promise when the meal is over, I can always count on Hank getting up telling me how good it was/ leaning over and kissing me on the forehead/ and always tells me “I love you”…( His Momma doesn’t fry anything!!)…there is no better place in the world to sit after a good party and laugh about the night before…Always that Saturday/Sunday morning coach reading the sports page…You see this old piece of wood, means the world to me, it holds my family and friends together…It holds years of traditions/conversations…If only it could talk, well maybe not…There is a lot of love shared at that table, a lot of food passed around that table…We spend quality time together, I get fatter by the day, and it’s always a time…we pray together!!! Yep, love that old piece of wood!!!
