Day #5: Though many of them have passed on...I am truly thankful for the family in which I was lucky enough to be born and raised. I had the most amazing mother who was an awesome example of what a mother should be. She was loving and kind, gentle and considerate, yet firm when she needed to be. I had a hard working dad who made sure we did not go without the needs of day to day life. Though, unlike Mom...he never told us often of his love for us...his actions proved it. My Aunt Gert and Uncle John always looked out for not just our family but all those who needed anything...it didnt matter if it was a pair of gloves in the winter time or a daily supper plate delivered to the house of one who was unable to provide for themselves. My Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Bill who helped bring up not only my brother and myself...but so many of the church kids. They were a shining example of God fearing people who wished to bring up a child in the way he should go. My Granny Grimm who was so onery that you never quite knew what to expect her to say or do. My other Aunts and Uncles who were there when we just wanted to get away from the house for a little while and would open their doors for any where from an hour to a weekend. Since there was such an age difference, I didnt get to really be close to many of my cousins...but come family dinners or holidays, it was as most of us had been brought up together...with laughter, stories, lawn darts, volleyball and the such. I may not have had everything I wanted growing up
