Day 5 at the 2014 U.S. Open Overall Flying Disc Championships: This morning was the Discathon semis and finals. Unfortunately I was in a heat with Thomas Cole, the World Runner-Up last year and a favourite to win it all. I was happy with how I ran - I made all 3 tests but I missed 2 mandos which ultimately took me out of contention. Next up was the Disc Golf finals - congrats to Naved who won by 1 stroke on the monster 9! The final event of today was Freestyle prelims. My partner was Lars-Åke Brandtberg and we were the only international team. Me Canada, Him Sweden. We are both not sweet at freestyle but we planned a routine, hit some nice tricks and had fun. The highlight of the day for sure was getting to judge the B pool and in particular Jens Velasquez and Erwin Velasquez - some of the stuff they did I couldnt even have imagined, let alone seen before so I am stoked to get their routine on video tomorrow. Tomorrow is finals in DDC, Accuracy, Distance, Self Caught Flight and Freestyle. The only event Im doing is finals in SCF and going into the finals, Im ranked 1st. Im the defending world champion so tomorrow is the most important event for me this week and Im very grateful that I threw well enough to get myself in a position to defend. Also, before the Distance finals, I will be doing a demo with Davy Whippet which I am also really looking forward to! Thanks to Genuine Health and Vivobarefoot for helping me perform well today. Also, I was able to provide some sachet packets of ActivFuel+ and ActivRecover+ for the competitors today, especially my buddy Tom who came 3rd in the world in Discathon! Finally, I just wanted to mention that Im trying to raise some money to help fund my trip. More friends and family have stepped up but I still need help to make this Summer Frisbee Tour happen!
