Day 5 blog Exhausted. That is how we would describe how we feel. We set sail at 2030 (all times are in English) for Dieppe from Cherbourg. The trip totals to 150 miles, which meant we were sailing for almost 23 hours! We worked in three hour watched, and there was meant to be 6 people on each watch including the support leader. The majority of the French were ill, excluding Wanda, and only Bethany was ill from our English team. Although some were not ill, everyone was exhausted. Bethany was left to sleep for the trip, in case she was sick again, and so were the French. This meant our watches were down to three or four people. After taking short naps between our watches, the people who were fit enough would have to pile on the foul weather kits, lifejackets and clip on up on deck. There wasn’t a lot to do night sailing, except steer at the helm or look out for other ships. Clara, Jodie and Rosie managed to doze off on deck a few times. Although the trip was long, tiring and a little rough, we made it to Dieppe for 1915. After docking, Jodie and Rosie made dinner, Honey and Mustard Turkey with vegetables. Not many people had breakfast, or lunch, so everyone enjoyed it. Paul then allowed us some time for showers, as long as we were back at the boat for 2300 and lights out for 2330.
