Day 5 of the 7-day post positive what you are thankful for challenge: I am simply thankful for my father. Todays his birthday yall and he turns 75. At the age of 36, his Phamily left Vietnam without him. He was able to escape to a nearby aircraft carrier to be reunited with his intact Phamily in Ft. Chaffee. A Captain in the South Vietnamese army who was an educated civil engineer, worked as an auto mechanic by day and a janitor by night so his children could eat. The lessons he taught me werent always lectures (yes, we had some long talks). His actions taught me dont talk about it, be about it. While the divorce rate in our country soars above 50%, he worked hard with my mother to remain married so his three kids could grow up in a 2 parent home. As the only son who carries our name, I put him through hell yall. Yes I did. Im not even pleading the 5th on that one. However, I am willing to spend a lifetime making it up to him by doing right. Happy birthday dad. Enjoy your day with the grand kids.
