Day 5 of the rodent war. Despite my attempts to thwart him, the rat Sapper has successfully countered my defensive fortifications. While he still has not breeched the inner keep, he has managed to gain access of the run. Initial attempts using spring traps have failed as he just stole the bait. The second defense attempt used peanut butter on spring traps. He was wounded as there was evidence he had been, but somehow managed to escape. This gave him a learning curve as successive nights proved fruitless regarding spring trap engagement. 3rd attempt utilized 2 sticky traps with a back up of spring traps. The bastard circumvented these. 4th attempt involved a clever multi tiered system akin to the Atlantic wall. 2 spring traps, 2 sticky traps at the entry point and a live trap. Evidently said rodent got intel and managed to avoid my defenses all together. No doubt he will land somewhere along Calais. Tonight is another attempt at multi tier traps in an effort to capture this rat. I remain determined.
