Day 6 - Advent Morning Minute VERSES: Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” KEY THOUGHT: Has your soul ever been heavy? You know the feeling? The whole world is pressing down on you. You feel this crushing in your spirit. There doesn’t seem to be any relief in sight. You pray and pray and pray and it just doesn’t seem like God’s hearing you. There’s this silence that just seems to magnify the feeling of loneliness and despair. Ever been there? Are you there now? You’re NOT alone. I often say you’re either going into or just coming out of a valley season in your life. And those valley moments are tough. They challenge us to the core of our faith. If you’re there right now let me encourage you to HOLD ON! I know it’s tough. I know you’re asking why me. I know your wondering if it’s ever going to end. Hold on! God’s promise is that He doesn’t want to harm you but to prosper you. Don’t give up before the blessing comes. And here’s the best thing you can do…and this is counter intuitive…quit fighting. Sounds crazy right? Let me explain. Quit trying to do it by your own power and your own strength and fall into the ever capable hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is our source of peace. He is our source of rest. He is our source for relief. Jesus said these amazing words in the Sermon on the Mount…Blessed are the poor in spirit for there is the Kingdom of Heaven. To get the rest you’re looking for you first have to surrender to the giver of rest. We find true rest only in a relationship with God. PRAYER: Dear God, I give you my burdens, pains and baggage in exchange for your peace that passes all understanding. Today instead of fighting by my own strength and own power, I am going to surrender all of me to You. I am going to trust that the One who had the power to defeat death can defeat whatever I am facing today. Father let me find peace and even joy today even in the midst of my trial. And let grow in my faith as You once again act in my life.
