Day 6 Everyone was so darn friendly to us in Texas. The ladies - TopicsExpress

Day 6 Everyone was so darn friendly to us in Texas. The ladies at the laundromat directed us to the best mechanic in town and people were offering us rides left right and centre. We met Josh for coffee and could have talked for hours but we had driving to do. Into the desert. Our entry into New Mexico was the most space landscape yet. Tumbleweed abounds. Brown grass smattered with snow glistens purple at sunset. A brief stop in Roswell before crossing an eerie mountain range and Lauren was stopped by the boys in blue. Having a Quebec registered car with an Australian ID and no permanent address, the policeman must have thought to himself We are never getting our money... How do I even write a ticket? He advised us to slow down and have a good night. Unbeknownst to us, we crossed into a new timezone and it was actually earlier than we thought. We checked our messages and an If/Then moment opened up. We could stay with friends of friends or German couchsurfers. Friends of friends got back to us first so we stayed on recliners with a military couple, 4 small dogs and donuts. The Germans had prepared us gluten free food, wine and good coffee in a private room on a golf course! Unfortunately we had a communication issue. Choices are interesting. That moment is gone. Life is the best ever!
