Day 6 of Thirty Days of Christmas Music “Blue Christmas,” a - TopicsExpress

Day 6 of Thirty Days of Christmas Music “Blue Christmas,” a rather draggy 1950 country tune by Ernest Tubb, was turned into a Yuletide classic by Elvis Presley seven years later, and by now has probably been heard at least 50 times by everyone on the planet. From the famous “Uh-I’ll-Uh-Have-Uh-Blue…..” intro to the backup singers’ “Oo-hoo-ha-hoo-hoo” refrain, it might be the most familiar postwar American holiday song. Luckily, Elvis’s big comeback performance on his 1968 Singer Christmas TV Special (now simply known as “the comeback special”) included “Blue Christmas,” sung in the round and accompanied by members of his original band. Most people don’t know that in the middle of the song, time-traveler Martina McBride showed up and sang along with Presley – as you can see in this video. youtu.be/3KK6sMo8NBY
