Day 60! It has been a pretty idle weekend for mom. NO therapies yesterday & minimal amount today. Tomorrow is a BiG day for her!! She has a full day ahead & we get to join in on her therapies tomorrow..... For anyone that knows anything about rehab ~ you know that the patient is re evaluated every 3-4 days on whether or not you get to stay longer for more acute therapy. If the patient is participating & is cooperative ~ they get to stay an additional week until the evaluation is done again. Last week mom showed enough willingness to participate/ improvement ~ so she was approved through this coming Wednesday when the next evaluation will be. Monday & Tuesday are her days to really shine. Although this is our 3rd trip to rehab ~ mom has never really even had 3-4 consecutive days of therapy. We have always had some sort of set back/ Emergency/ or procedure that simply got in the way. As she was gaining momentum Thursday & Friday of last week ~ the weekend came around & idle time came with it!! So, tomorrow is the beginning of a very important week. Hopefully, this week will come with 5 full days of rehab ~ UNINTERRUPTED!!! I read her each & every sweet comment, prayer & msg left on this page! She will give a smile every now & then to let me know she totally understands all that I am saying... One huge praise for today: she is trying to eat more this weekend. She ate several bites off her tray for lunch & dinner. She has eaten more this weekend than she has in the past 4 weeks since the surgery for infection. Before I left her ~ I grabbed her hand & asked her if she wanted me to pray with her: she nodded yes & closed her eyes while grasping my hand tightly!! The most important part of that prayer was asking for protection over her & healing hands! Please continue to pray for her & the mindset she has to have to get through these very important days of rehab. She is a woman of very strong faith ~ but with all she has gone through ~ she has been shaken a bit with what her future holds......I would be lying if I said we havent all been shaken a little bit! But, we are confident that tomorrow is a new day & brighter days are coming....... baby steps! More tomorrow (and sorry for the long post)!!!!
