Day #64 - Psalm 27-29 Psalm 27 - Verse 1 would be a great verse to commit to memory. Fear has a way of binding us but The Lord can set us free from that fear. I looked up the top 10 fears humans have. According to listverse which is a polling website they listed the top 10 fears starting with #10 and working to #1 as: Fear of losing your freedom, the unknown, physical pain, disappointment whether it be them disappointing you or you disappointing them, misery (defined as being unable to meet your most basic of needs; poverty), loneliness, ridicule, rejection, death, and failure. Now look back through that list. What thing on that list can The Lord not help you with; what thing does His word not help us with. Heres Gods answer to these fears. (10) If the Son sets you free your are free indeed (John 8:36), (9) Trust in The Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5) - Dont ever be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God, (8) theres coming a day when He will will away every tear from our eyes and their will be no more pain (Revelation 21:4), (7) Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7), (6) My God shall supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19), (5) He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24), (4) There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1), (3) David knew rejection. He says in verse 10 that his mother and father forsook him. Now whether this literally happened or a figure of speech we do know that when Jesse started bringing his sons before the prophet, David was the last one he guessed might be anointed the next king, (2) the last and greatest enemy death has been defeated (see 1 Corinthians 15), (1) God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8) - Jesus died that our failures might be made right. Many of you can understand verse 13 as you have been there. Some of you are likely there now. David said were it not for his faith in God he would have lost heart, he would have given up. I think one of the keys to understanding this psalm was in verse 5. Notice David did not have to run into the presence of The Lord, he was already in the presence of The Lord. We often run to Him in time of trouble when we should make it our desire to walk in His presence as we go about life. Psalm 28 - Verse 3 shows how generations come and go but human nature remains the same. Like David, we too have known people who speak peace to their neighbors (act friendly toward them) only to talk bad about them the first chance they get. David refers to these people as wicked. Verse 7 The Lord is our strength and shield. How strong is The Lord? Is anything to difficult for Him? And this verse says He is our strength. When you are weak let The Lord exercise His strength in your life. And He is our shield - the one who protects us from the fiery darts of our enemies. Verse 9 David refers to The Lord as the Shepherd to His people. A shepherd protect his sheep from the enemies as well as provides for the basic needs of his sheep. He also leads his sheep in the way they should go. All of this and more is what The Lord our shepherd does for us. Psalm 29 - All I can is verse 9 proves it was not a Baptist temple because it says everyone in the temple shouts Glory.
