Day 7: Every year the small little town of Sturgis in South Dakota - TopicsExpress

Day 7: Every year the small little town of Sturgis in South Dakota with a resident population of six thousand people hosts the world famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. A feature thats been going on for the past 74 years and attend by three hundred fifty thousand to four hundred thousand riders and v-twin motorcycle enthusiasts. A three street affair with endless bars, skimpy clad bartenders, Harley after-market parts, greasy American food and a million vendors selling leather, t-shirts and all kinds of interesting knick-knacks. A perfect destination for the poser motorcyclist in you. After waiting for two years to attend the Sturgis Rally, and today after walking around the place for a good three hours I decided it was not my cup of tea. It lacks culture; a money-making, lack luster, poser event attended by white-collar riders who suddenly decide to be bad ass bikers for a weekend!! ... A sales and marketing drama orchestrated by American motorcycle manufactures. A stark contrast to the day I had yesterday in Denver. I got to spend friendship day with my childhood friend and her spouse, and our initial plan of going to a couple of national parks, didnt quite work out; And we finally decided to spend the day in down town Denver. Its such a beautiful city, full of art and culture. Vibrant and alive! Watched a movie, indulging in the street acts of homeless people and finally watched a live comedy show before getting back home. I would any day choose an outing seeing the culture, architecture and history of a city and its people rather than seeing old saggy tits and an over-dose of Harleys. The last two days are better seen in pictures ...
