Day 7 of Thankfulness: Today I am thankful for our home. It isnt much, but it IS paid for! After losing a home and EVERYTHING we owned to a fire 7 years ago... I think we have done pretty well bouncing back. We had no insurance, it had been cancelled because I lived .5 miles too far from the nearest fire department, so we were totally on our own. In just 7 years we have paid off our home, put a NEW roof (expensive!) on it, added a huge walk-in closet to the master suite and nearly remodeled the entire upstairs. All of this work was done while I endured a life or death pregnancy and delivery, I battled a progressively delbilitating illness, had 2 heart attacks, cancer, 5 family deaths, and moved 13 people IN with us to try to help them out. (No, no one else worked, my husband supported us ALL!) Downstairs the livingroom has been remodeled (gutted and replaced. ugh!) The diningroom is a work in progress currently. I also painted the exterior a light gray from the baby poop green/yellow that it used to be. We intend to do siding and new windows in the future. This spring we will replace the rickety falling-in front porch (thank God!!) with a new and enclosed front entrance. I will have a mud room on the west end of it Yay!! We have purchased the gorgeous new entry door, with side lights!, and most of the materials to finish it. Outside, our home looks like crap now.. but she is a butterfly in her cocoon slowly emerging. Give her time, or stop by and lend a hand! No volunteer will be turned away! Judge not lest ye be judged. :)
