Day 8 - Friday - Today was a bittersweet day as we said goodbye to our friends at the Kibo hotel in Sav-la-Mar. We loaded up our bags and headed across the island to Dove House to see our good friend and brother in Christ, Mahlon Mauta. We wound our way through brilliant green hills to the rust colored road that is Mahlons driveway. Mahlon is a quadriplegic but you wouldnt know it by his attitude. I have had the pleasure of getting to know him through email and today I was able to surprise him by showing up without him knowing Ive been in Jamaica. The look on his face was priceless! The perfect surprise! After serving him a lunch of KFC we sang a few of his favorite hymns including Victory in Jesus, and Farther Along. Mahlon led us in prayer as we all held hands. Though his body is weak, Mahlons faith stands firm. His positive outlook reminds me that true joy comes only in the Lord. Farther along we will know all about it and we will stand together, whole, complete, and healed of all our diseases both spiritual and physical. I cant wait to stand before the throne of God singing praises with Gods children from across the world. I am thankful to know my Jamaican brethren, especially those like Mahlon who are persevering in the faith.
