Day 8 of our look at the 25 Days Of Christmas takes us to a song written by Willie Nelson, with the original recording by Roy Orbison, and arranged by Bill Justis, with orchestra & chorus conducted by Ivor Raymonde. At the time of the writing, Nelson was still getting his career started, he had a writing contract and came up with Pretty Paper, which Orbison recorded and peaked at #15 on the Pop Charts in December of 1963 with. It also reached #10 on the Christmas Charts that year, and #27 the following year. Willie released his own version in 1964 then, recorded a version as the title cut for his 1979 Christmas album. In 2004, Kenny Chesney recorded a version of the song, with Willie Nelson joining in, that reached #45 on the Hot Country Charts.
