Day 9: Logroño > Nájera Today was another really long day - TopicsExpress

Day 9: Logroño > Nájera Today was another really long day (18.5 miles). Luckily the weather was much better (ie cooler) and I was able to walk some big chunks with other peregrinos. Leaving Logroño I saw this cool mural that made awesome use of negative space and took advantage of some old graffiti in a cool way. I then walked on through a nature reserve which is known for its bird watching... I did see some pretty cool birds although I have no idea what kind they are. I walked through a lot of vineyards today (I am *officially* in Rioja which is the wine region of Spain). There were also parts of today that looked fall-like with some changing colors. I love the one photo of Aiden (a peregrino from Galway) walking across the bridge. We were so tired at this point and we had about 3km left. I couldnt stop giggling and I was getting way more sun than I was aware of. So much so that when I did get settled into my albergue 40 minutes later, my sunburns started to get super red and I began getting the chills and feeling pretty sick... Sun poisoning! It had been deceptive because the wind kept us pretty cool, but the sun was still really strong. Luckily it wasnt terrible and after some rest, a couple Advil, a lot of water, and dinner, I was feeling much better.
