Day 9 of the 2014 IIHF Mens World Championships is complete. Here is what happened today in Minsk. The host country flexed their muscles with a three-goal third period as Belarus beat Germany 5-2; Mikhail Grabovski had two goals and an assist and Sergei Kostitsyn had a pair of assists for the Belarusians while Kai Hospelt and Alexander Barta had the tallies for the Germans. A two-goal third period and a shootout were necessary to pull off an incredible upset as Denmark shocked the Czech Republic 4-3; Jannik Hansen had two assists and Patrick Bjorkstrand tallied once for the Danes while Jaromír Jágr and Jakub Klepiš had a goal and assist each for the Czechs. A pair of goals in each period was really beneficial as Switzerland defeated Kazakhstan 6-2; Luca Cunti and Andres Ambühl had a goal and an assist each for the Swiss while Vadim Krasnoslobodtsev had a goal and an assist of his own and Fyodor Polischuk won twelve assists for the Kazakhs.
