Day Fifty-Four Update on Simon and Mochi. Mochi was first on the surgery schedule this morning at UW Madison Veterinary Hospital this morning and was out of surgery and back in the Intensive Care Unit by 1215 pm. The tracheostomy surgery went well without any complications and Mochi was awake but still a little sleepy from the anesthesia. The facility is great as I receive a phone call with Mochis updates at least twice/day and also whenever there should be a change in condition or a procedure or testing scheduled. I am still awaiting Dr. Hardies evening update and Ill keep everyone posted. Just received the evening call and Mochi is doing well. They have actually had to keep her mildly sedated as she wants to sit on someones lap all of the time or she is not happy. Thats my girl! I will receive another update early tomorrow morning. The challenging part of her recovery is watching for blood clots and/or mucous plugging as well as to monitor for infection. I was able to get her eating well again prior to re-admission for surgery and she gained half a pound in 4 days preoperatively. She had previously lost her appetite due to a decreased potassium level from the high does of Lasix that she had been on. Once we corrected that level with the potassium supplements she was ravenous (which is Mochis normal). She used to stand right next to the other Chin once she was done with her own food and just stare at them as if to say, Give Me Your Food Now, Bi _ _ _ es. Im sorry. Been a long couple of months.LOL Baby Emily is doing fine and as I posted yesterday, the results of the biopsy should be available on Monday. She has one stitch and she loves to rough-house with the boys so hopefully it holds. If not, Dr. Berg said that he can stitch her entire mouth closed. Only kidding. Dr. Berg can use surgical glue if needed. Thank you again for all of the donations via Mochis, Fuzzys, Luckys. Jimmys and Phoebes Youcaring fundraiser and any donations given directly via JCCAREs website. What a difference you have made in so many lives.
