Day Twenty-Three of the Eileen McCreary Nuss Music Memorial. Getting your China at the Rustler Steak House I just got back from the supermarket and while there I went to get a cup of water near the tables. There was a woman stuffing her bag with the paper products, cups, paper plates and plastic ware used by the people that buy prepared food. It reminded me of a funny story Eileen told me a long time ago. Three of my sisters, Eileen, Theresa and Marian worked at the nearby Rustler Steak House in 69th Street Upper Darby, PA. Rustler’s operated until 1982 and was similar to Ponderosa and Sizzler steak house chains that are a cafeteria style restaurant. Sometimes I would go hang out in 69th Street and I would go over there to eat and see my sisters before getting the E bus home. One night Eileen was working and filling things up at the salad bar. A woman stopped Eileen and pulled out ten salad bowls that originated from the restaurant and handed them to her. The customer went on to explain that she had enough at home so was returning the extras. I can just imagine the women’s kitchen stocked with cups, plates, silverware etc from the Rustler Steak House. Today’s Song: Been Caught Stealing by Janes Addiction. The song was released on their 1990 album, Ritual de lo Habitual. This album was released on vinyl, CD and cassette. Due to the difference in length of the song on side “A” and side “B” the cassette tape of this album has about ten minutes of silence on side A. https://youtube/watch?v=jrwjiO1MCVs
