Day Two of my musical challenge that Shirley SzymanekI nominated - TopicsExpress

Day Two of my musical challenge that Shirley SzymanekI nominated me for to list five songs over five days that have a particular significance to me, accompanied by an explanation as to why Ive chosen them. (Not sure I can explain why in some cases tbh) So my choice today is from Iron Butterfly, it was purely a matter of luck that I got to see the band perform this track live after I had bought a ticket to see YES at the Royal Albert Hall for the 18th January 1971 and Iron Butterfly happened to be top of the bill with Elkie Brooks & Robert Palmers band Dada also playing. I dont recall much about Dada but Yes had released The Yes Album and done a few tracks from it as well as America if I recall correctly. Iron Butterfly took to the stage and to be honest I really didnt know much about them having only heard In A Gadda Da Vida a couple of times and not owning any of their records. I had never up to this point heard a guitar sing live before and had no idea what a voice/talk box was but I was about to hear one during the track Butterfly Bleu and I was enthralled by the whole experience and bought the album Metamorphosis just a few days after the joys of the concert. Luckily I got to see the band again a couple of years back and they done the track again and it brought a tear to my eye as I reminisced about 1971 all over again.
