Day Two, of the Facebook Gratitude Challenge. Throughout this - TopicsExpress

Day Two, of the Facebook Gratitude Challenge. Throughout this ho-hum sort of day, still a lot of things to be grateful for, finding them everywhere when I go intentionally looking...Heres three... 1. Swings. I took time to set on the back deck swing, waiting on Charles to return this evening from his work. This 2-seater that has served us for many years now; long-ago lost its awning; could use an oiling on its squeaking parts. Something quite spiritual about time spent swaying back and forth in a swing; rockers, too, for that matter. I remember with fondness the many summer hours I spent on the swing in the front yard as a young person. I dont remember the swing being put there in the Cedar Tree, I guess my Dad must have been responsible; and I dont remember anyone else ever sitting there, though others must have. But as a child, I considered it my spot. I remember too, being very impressed by Cousin Margies swing off in a grove of trees by her lake home; I could really get some heights going there, when I visited during Summer Vacation. Note to Jean: You should do this more often. 2. Washers and Dryers. Weeks worth of laundry done for the Smiths, clothes washed, dried, folded...put away...well, not yet, but they will be. Does anyone iron clothes any more? And fresh, clean sheets to crawl onto and under tonight. Life can be good! Im not a clothes line person, never have been, probably never will be, although many extol the wonders of them. So grateful for the decade and a half year Old Maytag washer and Old Kenmore dryer in the basement that never complain about the work, much better I say than a riverbank and a rock for a washboard. 3, Book authors. Just finished a book Ive been reading over the past two weeks. Gratitude for story-writers everywhere, and of all times, for their dedication and commitment, from hatching ideas, developing plots, sticking to it through the printing and publishing, and then starting all over again. My gratitude this day to Charles Martin, and the surprising twist-ending, I didnt see coming in The Mountain Between Us (A 50-cent bargain find at Berwick Camp book sale.) Thats it for Day Two.
