Day eight: I am grateful 1. I remember when gay bashing was acceptable, couples kept fake separate bedrooms for visitors sakes, and it didnt occur to me to hope I could go to church with my wife and child then have lunch in a restaurant where no one looked twice. I can do that now, and grateful doesnt begin to cover how it feels. 2. Ive been able to work through decades of internalized homophobia. The increasing social acceptance was actually a little hard to adjust to. Its a different world. 3. People like Todd Haley who get up and go work for change. Not so activist folks like me need people like him. 4. The invention of the Aeropress. I dont care how that sounds. I drink a lot of coffee. 5. Sushi. Nuff said.
