Day three on Shetland.... After that glorious sunrise we headed north, Double Deckers in hand and tackled the mighty Unst. Jono got us off to a great start with our first Yellow-browed Warbler of the day in the garden by the ferry to Yell. Black Guillies on the crossing and then caught the Unst boat with a minute to spare. The day that unfolded was great with the undoubted highlight being involved with the tracking down and nailing of only my second ever Pechora twenty years after the first at Filey in Yorkshire. A great find by the lads staying on Unst. The supporting cast of five YBWs, three Barred Warblers, two male Eastern Subalpine Warblers (one singing quietly to himself), Rustic and Little Buntings, Rosefinch, Bluethroat, another Red-breasted Fly, powerful soaring Bonxies, female Merlin, Peregrine, flocks of Rock Doves in the harvested Barley fields with 60 Skylarks and several Wheaters and lots of the commoner sylvia warblers..... The weather was superb and the rain has only just started to fall.... Off to cook dinner now.... Oh and a beer will be opened.... And the whisky.....
