Day two of the hearing aid experiment. I have stated on many - TopicsExpress

Day two of the hearing aid experiment. I have stated on many occasions that I hate the 21st-century, but I do have to admit that modern technology is almost miraculous. I have included two photographs, one of one of the hearing aids with the battery compartment open next to a £.20 piece, and another of it in place in my lug hole. Apparently, according to the audiologist (who was Scottish, with a great big mole, and just kept reminding me of that Austin powers sketch, moley, moley, moley etc.....) I have to train my brain (ha ha) to understand what the hearing aids are doing, so I have to surround myself with lots and lots of background noise and learn to hear peoples speech above it. At the moment I have loud music (of course), the washing machine, rain hammering down on the conservatory roof and its not working out too bad. As a bonus, Ive just discovered that my speech recognition program still works above all this bleeding racket. My main aim at the moment is to try and get my hearing up to a standard that will allow me to have a good chat with some of you at the Boston Halloween party. In the meantime, just look at those two pictures. Bloody clever these Japanese.
